Reviews

Very good product!

After reading all the different reviews for various cookie presses I couldn't figure out which one I wanted. They all seemed to have one problem or another or they were just too expensive. I finally chose this one even though no one had reviewed it yet. But, it had everything I wanted, 20 different disks for the cookies, 4 icing tips and it wasn't made of plastic. Best of all, it was affordable. As soon as I got it I went to work making cookies. This thing is so easy to use! I didn't have any problems with the lever not catching on the rod like some of the other presses that I read about. The cookies came out perfectly formed. The only complaint I have is that the barrel has no window in it to see how much dough is left inside. It isn't a big deal but it would have been nice to see how much dough was remaining. Otherwise, I think this is a great product overall.

Probably best in its class

I gave this 5 stars simply because it's the only one like this I've seen that isn't going break with ordinary use. The presses with the plastic end-pieces are doomed to break, no matter what you pay for the unit. I'm sure you could get a better, all-metal unit for more money, but for the price, it's a good deal. That said, I had problems with consistency with my first few batches. Near the end of the latest batch, I inverted the disk (set it so concave side was down) and I got much better results. What I miss most is the screw-type press my mom had years ago.Notes on this one:1) make sure the disks are concave side down2) make sure no air trapped when you add the dough3) be careful with the top ring when using or cleaning. Wrong moves can put it over the metal clip that controls how much comes out. Once that happens, it's like one of those aggravating wire puzzles to get put back in place.

Worth it!

For the small amount more you will pay over the cheap cookie guns, this one is well worth it! And some of the more expensive (read: brand name) ones out there appear to be the same model.I bought this for my wife after she went through several of the cheapies. Most have too much plastic and thin metal to handle the rigors of squeezing out all but the thinnest cookie dough. And forget about cleaning them.Although ours was received without the instructions, an easy web search found a downloadable set.One tip: Although Target's web site said a local super store stocked this, it did not. Better call first or order here.
